The group of companies "Gavrish" (Moscow) is planning to invest about 200 million rubles to build greenhouses to produce vegetable seeds in the Krymsk region of Krasnodar.
According to Russia’s Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) the total harvest volume of fruit and berry production at orchards of agricultural organisations in 2015 dropped by 5.1 percent on the year to 612.5 thousand tonnes. The average amount harvested per hectare of land, however, grew by 13.3 percent – 9.7 tonnes per hectare.
Vegetable growers of Ust-Labinsk Region of the Krasnodar Krai are reporting that there has been a lack of state support for food production which has resulted in about one thousand tonnes of Kuban pumpkins, radishes, carrots and other vegetables left sitting in storage as “dead weight” as trade networks are not interested in purchasing them.

Kuban is planning to develop a public- private partnership while focusing on the development of seed production in the region. This is expected to allow the Krasnodar Krai to decrease its dependence on imported seed and planting materials.
The Krasnodar region is planning to be able to harvest as much as 100 thousand tonnes of greenhouse vegetables by 2018 due to current initiatives in this sector, such as with the possibile commissioning of cool storage facilities and product silos. The region expects this year's harvest to amount to seventy thousand tonnes of vegetables.
Russia's province of Kuban in the Krasnodar Krai, located northeast of the Black Sea, is making plans to increase the region's production of canned foods to reach a goal of 970 million jars in 2015.
