Representatives of Turkey will not be visiting Moscow on April 26 to discuss the situation regarding sanctions on exports to Russia because officials were unable to obtain visas, the deputy head of Russia’s Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) Alexey Alekseyenko told RIA Novosti.

Restrictions against all Turkish plant products could be put into action as soon as next month if talks between the two countries are not initiated, the head of Russia's Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service, Sergey Dankvert, said.

According to a press release, the head of Russia's Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) Sergey Dankvert together with the Director of the Main State Inspection Service for Seed Production, Quarantine and Plant Protection of Belarus Leonid Pleshko confirmed instances of illegal re-export from Europe which were shipped as if they were Moldovan grown produce.

The head of Russia's Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) Sergei Dankvert was in negotiations with Mozambique's Ambassador to Russia, Saraiva Nguena, to discuss the possible prospects associated with increasing the African country's exports of fruits, vegetables and other types of products to the Russian market.

Starting this year, there has been a lot of news regarding Russian-Iranian trade relations and exports of Iranian products to the Russian market. The head of Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Sergey Dankvert, said that one of the most valuable prospects is the creation of a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Commission (EAEC) and Iran. Negotiations are already underway to make these plans possible.

Alexander Tkachev, head of Russia's Ministry of Agriculture (Minselkhoznadzor), during a visit to the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg said that it is unlikely that the country will expand its list of banned food products of European and Western origin.
