The 14th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Committee on trade and economic co-operation between Russian Federation and Republic of South Africa (ITEC) will be conducted in Pretoria on 16-18 November, 2016.

The head of Russia's Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) Sergei Dankvert was in negotiations with Mozambique's Ambassador to Russia, Saraiva Nguena, to discuss the possible prospects associated with increasing the African country's exports of fruits, vegetables and other types of products to the Russian market.

While Russia is looking to fill a hole in the number of shipments, some of which were once supplied by countries of the European Union, is looking to African countries to step up shipments.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and the country of South Africa. Since that time then exporting fruit from South Africa has been one of the main items of discussion.
