Trade With China: Russia's Increasing Exports, China's Ag Investments Featured

An official announcement of the Autonomous Region of Inner Mongolia, a region of northern China, reported that from January to September of this year Russian suppliers shipped 282 thousand tonnes of various agricultural products to China by way of Manchuria.

In October, Russia's Business Ombudsman Boris Titiov said during the opening ceremony of the China Overseas Investment Fair that the most promising areas of economic cooperation between Russia and China are in the spheres of agriculture and construction, as reported by TASS.

“The potential of a relationship develops, first of all, in sectors such as agriculture, and now China has become one of the main investors in the region,” Titov said, according to the TASS. “Russia has a very large potential for supplying agricultural products to China. Demand for environmentally friendly products is growing in China. We have all the possibilities to produce it in Russia.

China Invests In Construction Of 2 Warehouses In Primorsky Krai - Combined Capacity Esimated To Be 200,000 tonnes

At around the same time, China's state-owned food processing company China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corp. (COFCO) announced its plans to build two warehouses in Russia's Mikhailovsky priority development territory in southern Primorsky Krai, the southeastern most region of the country, bordered by China and North Korea, as reported by Shanghai-based Guancha Syndicate reports and China Ag.

In June 2015, a Zhejiang-based company was granted permission to lease over 100,000 hectares of uncultivated land in the Transbaikal Krai. The company plans to use the land to grow vegetables, wheat and other agricultural products, including livestock.
