The businessman said that he considers Russian wild and edible fruits to be healthier than the types of berries grown in the southern regions of the country because the berries in the north grow under severe conditions, low temperatures and low sunlight. Employees of the enterprise manually sort, process and freeze the varieties of berries they collect.
According to Kolu, the Russian wild edible berry - the cloudberry - in the future will become popular in Europe. The company's primary share of exports goes to Scandinavia, but there is notable demand coming from within Russia, where prices are higher.
In the future, Kolu intends to open a line of deep processing facilities for wild plant products on the same peninsula under the brand “Сделано в Арктике” (Made in the Artic).
