Alexander Maximov, honorary representative of Russia's Chamber of Commerce in Iran who was also at the event, added that Iran may significantly increase shipments of oranges, peaches, pomegranates, kiwis, pistachios, almonds, cucumbers, tomatoes, cilantro and strawberries.
There are also large opportunities on the Russian market for Iranian processed products, including organic fruit juice.
Maximov said that Iranian agriculture is nearly free of chemicals and capable of providing as much as 15 percent of Russia's demand for such products.
In addition to relieving Iran of Russian customs duties, Ulyukayev and Maximov discussed other ongoing issues regarding sanitary and phytosanitary standards as well as procedures and inspections of Iranian enterprises prior to their products reaching Russian stores.
