Russian Embassy In Tashkent Reports Jump In Fruit, Vegetable Imports From Uzbekistan Featured

Russia and Uzbekistan's trade relationship has been characterized by negative dynamics, which are aided by unfavorable economic environment. According to Vladimir Tyurdenova, Russia's ambassador to Uzbekistan, bilateral trade turnover January to September experienced a 29.2 percent drop to US $2.14 billion.

However, att the same time, vegetable and fruit exports to the Russian market had increased by 78.4 percent.

Russia's share of these imports makes up about 25 percent of Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover, making Russia one of the country's most important partners.

For the last several years, both countries have actively been developing a partnership, the ambassador said. In Russia there are currently 500 joint ventures, and in Uzbekistan there are another 900 Russian-Uzkek companies.
