This new legislation restricting transit of Ukrainian goods also took effect at the start of the new year. It requires that goods intended to pass through Russia to a third country must enter the country through Belarus.
Another requirement governs the vessels in which goods are transported. The legislation states that suppliers should provide a “means of identification (seals), including a functioning technology-based global navigation satellite system (GLONASS)” to accompany the container. This regulation also applies to both auto transport and rail.
The GLONASS capabilities for vehicles and railway containers are to be installed upon entering and exiting the territory of Russia, and control stations will be set up at special points along transit routes.
