Russian Ground Transport Banned From Entering Turkey

03 February 2016

According to a press release of the Association of International Road Transport, Russian freight vehicles have been banned from entering Turkey as of January 31, 2016.

Since February 1, logistics services in Turkey have yet to renew previously issued authorizations to Russian truckers.

“Up to this moment in time, the Turkish side does not agree with the contingent of permissions for 2016. Currently, Russia's Ministry of Transport is taking measures to resolve the issue of Turkey's decision of having repeatedly redirected proposals for exchanging permits”.

In December, Russian Minister Maxim Sokolov announced a sharp drop (by nearly four times) in the amount of revenue of permits issued by Turkish logistics services for work in Russia.
