After crops were harvested in the region, they were stored, but no consumers were not found. This has caused distress for the regional cooperative of vegetable producers because they used their own funds to build a modern vegetable storehouse and were promised support from the federal and regional budgets. However, financial support from either source has not been received.
Although the farmers invested several million dollars in the project, a portion of it was taken out on credit. The high costs are due to the construction and installation of modern refrigerators and blueprints.
At the same time, Vladimir Yakunin, chairman of the cooperative in Ust-Labinsk, said he is certain that the country’s food security is feasible because there is produce “in large quantities” in southern Russia.
