Tajikistan To Increase Exports To Russia, Including Grapes, Onions Featured

09 March 2016

President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan said that Russia was and continues to be an important trade partner and that in the interest of both countries Tajikistan's agricultural exports to the Russian market are to be increased by a factor of 1.5 In 2016.

Specialists of both countries continue to search for opportunities to increase trade turnover, more or less so that Tajik fruit and vegetable products might increase yields and volumes of its exports.

Over the last few years over 75 thousand hectares of new vineyards in Tajikistan were laid, and in the next five years, the grapes will plant another 20 thousand hectares. Vegetable production is another promising direction; over 200 thousand tonnes of onions are to be shipped to Russia later this season.
