"Supplies of citrus fruits grew by 28% to 67 thousand tonnes, frozen fish - by 44% to 2 thousand tonnes," according to journalists quoting the press secretary of the Russian Minister of Agriculture Alexander Tkachev. According to the minister, Morocco is a strategic partner for Russia for orange, mandarin and tomato supplies. Therefore, Russia by the request and preparedness of Morocco could increase its fruit exports.
"We are for (increasing export) - the quality (of product) is much better, especially when we do not grow it in our country," Tkachev said. "Moroccan producers have always dominated in our market."
During earlier negotiations between the King of Morocco Mohammed VI and Putin, the Russian president commented that he was his surprised that Moroccan fruit exports to Russia had decreased despite restrictions against agricultural products from the European Union.
