The activists main slogan was: "For a free Kyrgyzstan; Against the Customs Union".
"We purposely gathered on the day of the Constitution, as spelled out in the main document that it is necessary to preserve the independence of our country. It's considered to be our main value. They are forcing us to join the Customs Union. However, such countries that join the Customs Union, say, that they lose economic and political independence," reported Gulzada Medralieva, one of the organizers of this demonstration.
Azamat Akeleev, ex-spokesman of the Public Advisory Council for Russia's Ministry of Finance, added that Kyrgyzstan's ascension into the Customs Union would have a very negative effect on price formations.
He said that, for example, the cost of automobiles will grow by 20 percent, which will have negative influence on the life of people. In recent years Russia's economy has been "reeling". For example, last year's economic growth amounted to only 1 percent. All of this can affect our economy negatively, he said.
