Moscow Authorities Planning To Close Fresh Produce Wholesale Facility On Dmitrovsky Highway

19 May 2014

Moscow authorities are planning to close vegetable centers on Dmitrovsky Highway, as announced last Thursday during a public meeting between the members of the Northeastern Administration Area by its Prefect Valery Vinogradov.

"I will ensure that the trucks leave here," a Moscow official said.

Vinogradov added that he already sent the corresponding appeal to the Department of City Property in Moscow. The appeal contains the request for termination of the lease with the organization NTK – owner of the wholesale and storage facility.

Currently the lease allows facility owners to keep trucks with fresh produce on its territory and to arrange fruit and vegetables sales directly from the trucks.

According to the opinion of Valery Vinogradov, such arrangements are the reason of the criminal problems in the surrounding area and the facility owners are not able to solve these problems.
